Filters
Labels shoppers narrow by, grouped into categories.
Settings → Filters.
A filter is a label shoppers can narrow the locator by — Wheelchair access, Open Sundays, Curbside pickup, Repairs on site. Categories group them, so a long list reads as a few short ones.
Filters and categories
Create the filter, put it in a category, then tick it on the locations it applies to.
- Add filter takes a name, a category, and optionally an image.
- Add category groups them: Accessibility, Services, Brands.
- Drag a filter to set its order within its category.
- The chevron beside a category name collapses it, for when the list gets long.
A filter with no category still works — uncategorised filters are shown together, after the categories.
Images
A filter can carry a small image, shown beside its name. It is optional: filters without one show a dashed placeholder here in the app, and nothing extra on the storefront.
Images suit brands and certifications, where the logo is more recognizable than the words. For plain labels, leave them off.
Choosing filters on a location
On a location, the Filters section is where you tick the ones that apply. You can add a new filter from there too, without coming back to settings — handy while you are working through a list of stores.
What shoppers see
Which categories a locator offers, and in what order, belongs to the profile in Customize, not here. That is what lets two locators on the same shop offer different filters.
Under Search and filters:
- Show filters turns the Filters panel on or off.
- Filter categories to show picks the categories, in the order you drag them. Leave it empty to show every category, in the order set here, with uncategorised filters last.
- With several filters chosen, show locations with decides whether choosing
two filters means both (
all) or either (any).
Two behaviors that need no setting:
- A filter no location uses is never shown. Empty choices that match nothing are worse than no choice at all.
- A location's own filters are listed in its details wherever the locator offers filters, so a shopper can see what a store has without going back.
Filtering by product instead
Filters describe a store. To let shoppers find stores by what is stocked, assign products on the location instead and turn on Let shoppers filter by product — see A single location.
The two work together: a shopper can narrow by product and by filter at once.
In the app's own table
Your categories are also columns and search filters on the locations list, so you can see which stores carry which labels, or filter the table down to one. See Managing locations.
