Getting started
Quick start
From installing to a working locator on your storefront.
Four steps, in this order. Each one is useful on its own, so you can stop after any of them and come back.
1. Connect a map provider
Settings → Map providers.
Choose Google Maps or Mapbox, follow the setup steps on the page — they include your store's own domain, ready to paste into the key's restrictions — then paste the key and save.
The storefront map will not render without this, so it is worth doing first. See Map provider for which services each key needs enabled.
2. Add your locations
Locations → Add location.
Start typing in Address and pick the real address from the list: that fills in the city, state, postcode, country, latitude and longitude for you. Give it a name, save, and you have a location.
Have a list already? More actions → Import takes a CSV or spreadsheet, and any row without coordinates is geocoded as it imports. See Import & export for the columns.
A location saved as a draft is not shown on the storefront, which is how you stage a new store before it opens.
3. Add the locator to your theme
From the app's dashboard, Add to your theme opens the theme editor with the block ready to add. Or do it by hand:
- Open Online Store → Themes → Customize.
- Go to the page you want the locator on.
- Add section → Apps → Store Locator.
The locator appears with your locations on it straight away. Everything else on this screen is yours to set — see Adding the block.
4. Set it up for your shoppers
Back in the app, Settings → Customize is where the locator is built: profiles on the left, a live preview in the middle, settings on the right. The ones worth deciding first:
| Setting | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Search radiuses | The distances shoppers choose between. Dense city stockists want smaller numbers than nationwide dealers. |
| Distance units | Miles or kilometers. |
| Selected location details | A popup on the map, or the panel beside it. Choose the panel if your locations have hours, photos or long details. |
| Filter categories to show | Which groups of filters this locator offers. Leave empty for all of them. |
| Color scheme | Or turn on Blend with the page to follow your theme. |
Save, and your storefront has it — the block picks up your default profile without touching the theme again.
Need a second, different locator — or a product finder for your product pages? Add another profile from the Customize page and point a block at it. See Customize.
Then, when you need it
- Filters — let shoppers narrow by what a store offers.
- Custom fields — extra details per location, like parking notes or a manager's name.
- Search & radius — address suggestions, geolocation and limiting search to your countries.
- Language — change any word a shopper reads.
